Farm Schedule – Stage 3

Third Stage goals of the Farm Co-op

We have established a baseline for all operations and are now advancing to larger animals and more expensive projects for the Farm. By this point, we hope to have built trust and equity within the community, as it’s time to develop our Farm Investment Funds. We want to make an impact in the county. These projects will be financed by co-op members and partner communities. We consider it the most intelligent way to invest, provided that investors are fully aware of the risks involved.

Our Introduction

Aquaponics Projects

We require a reliable source of high-quality salad lettuces, one that is scalable and can ensure year-round availability. Perfecting aquaponics could yield a steady supply of local greens and lettuces throughout the year. Additionally, this venture could provide a modest supply of Trout for our community.

The initial investment will be significant, but the returns are promising. Each member will have the chance to own a more substantial part of this segment of the farm. Like most areas the will operate as an autonomous entity within the farm, yet remain directly connected to the farm’s product line. The farm will retain ownership of a portion of each project.

Our Introduction

Breeding Heards

The Co-op plans to establish a breeding herd fund dedicated to the expansion of local cattle, sheep, and goat populations. The initiative aims to support over 6,000 Sheep, 6000 Goat, and 6,000 Cow Breeders across Napa County. All animals will undergo training in e-collar technology at a single facility. Cattle will play a role in promoting carbon capture. Ruminants such as cattle, sheep, and goats are instrumental in maintaining healthy soils and grasslands, and effective grazing management can help reduce the carbon emissions and footprint of the industry.

Sheep will be employed for vineyard maintenance and fire mitigation, while goats will be used for hillside and mountain fire mitigation and land management.

Our Introduction

Green House Farming

We require a reliable source of high-quality summer style produce, one that is scalable and can ensure year-round availability. Perfecting hydroponics and Conventional greenhouse operation could yield a steady supply of summer produce throughout the year.

The initial investment will be significant, but the returns are promising. Each member will have the chance to own a more substantial part of this segment of the farm. It will operate as an autonomous entity within the farm, yet remain directly connected to the farm’s product line. The farm will retain ownership of a portion of this project.

Our Introduction

Farm Equipment

The purpose of this fund is to expand our farm equipment. By initiating a fund that utilizes this capital to lease equipment to the farm, we can retain the capital within the community. Additionally, the farm can treat the lease as rent for tax purposes. There remain several tax incentives available for leasing and operating a leasing company. A significant cost in initiating barley production is achieving a swift harvest. We require equipment that ensures this is done both cost-effectively and meticulously. In the realm of farm produce production, it is crucial to minimize superfluous labor. Hence, we need capital to invest in equipment that accomplishes this goal.
